MP Malvinder Kang Seeks Meeting with Vice President Over Panjab University Issue

Chandigarh, November 27, 2025: Punjab Member of Parliament (MP) Malvinder Singh Kang has formally requested a meeting with the Vice President of India to discuss the contentious issue concerning the Senate and Syndicate elections of Panjab University (PU). The MP stated that the Central Government’s previous decisions regarding the reconstitution of the Senate and Syndicate bodies have caused significant resentment among Punjabis. Kang highlighted that due to intense opposition, the Central Government had previously been compelled to withdraw its notification dated October 28, 2025. Stressing that any compromise on the independence of Panjab University is unacceptable, Kang intends to appeal to the Vice President, in his capacity as the University’s Chancellor, to ensure that the institution’s autonomy is fully secured and protected.
