In Cricket, India defeated Ireland by two runs via DLS method in first T-20 international to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series in Dublin yesterday. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah made a splendid comeback as India restricted Ireland to 139 for seven in stipulated 20 overs. Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bowl. Chasing 140 for victory, India were 47 for 2 in 6.5 overs. Visitors were just 2 runs ahead of Ireland in DLS par score when rain stopped the game. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed 24 and 19 runs respectively for India. Jasprit Bumrah picked up 2 wickets for 24 while Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi also bagged two wickets each. Barry McCarthy scored brilliant unbeaten 51 off 33 for Ireland. Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged player of the match.
In second T-20 match, India will take on Ireland tomorrow at Malahide Cricket Club in Ireland.
