Centre launches ‘Prerana’ program to foster leadership in youth

In a bid to empower students with leadership qualities, the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education has introduced ‘Prerana: An Experiential Learning program.’ Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Prerana is a week-long residential program designed for selected students from class IX to XII.

Located in a school in Vadnagar, Gujarat and rooted in the principles of the Indian education system and value-based education, Prerana aims to instill leadership qualities.

The curriculum, prepared by IIT Gandhi Nagar, revolves around nine value-based themes, including Swabhiman, Vinay, Shaurya, Sahas, and more. The participants, 20 students (10 boys and 10 girls) each week from various parts of the country, will be guided by mentors from prestigious institutions.

The program schedule encompasses yoga, mindfulness, meditation sessions, thematic learning activities, visits to heritage sites, inspirational film screenings, and talent shows. Participants will engage in diverse activities, embracing indigenous knowledge systems and state-of-the-art technologies.

Students eager to be part of this initiative can register on the portal (http://prerana.education.gov.in). The selected 20 participants are expected to carry the ethos of Prerana into their communities, becoming catalysts for positive change.
