FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024: Indian women’s hockey team lost to Germany in Ranchi

The Indian women’s hockey team lost to Germany in the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024 semi-finals after a thrilling shootout at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi yesterday. Deepika gave India the lead but Charlotte Stapenhorst scored twice for Germany. Ishika Chaudhary however, scored a late equaliser to make the scoreline 2-2 and forced a shootout, which the Germans won 4-3. Despite the heartbreaking loss, the Indian women’s hockey team will still have another chance of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics when they face Japan, who lost the other semis against the USA, in the bronze medal match today. A win in the match will earn India a ticket to the upcoming Summer Games
